Broken
It whisked away my heart.
My mind hid and watched cautiously from a distance.
Laughter silenced my mind’s worries.
Words dressed in kindness then tied with a bow doused in love
Warmed me from the inside out.
I found solace in the ordinary.
Love’s whimsical beginnings were forgotten.
Boredom set in.
Your ears no longer longed to hear my voice.
Your body no longer desired my warmth.
Your mind was no longer stimulated by my words.
Your heart no longer raced when your eyes saw me.
Your heart strayed and when it returned
I was on the ground picking up the pieces.
