Shackled Mind
The shackled mind neither hopes nor craves freedom.
Time gnaws on its bones.
The mind is nearly witless.
Sense has been whittled down.
The day has consumed the heart;
It no longer bleeds.
The day has devoured the eyes;
It no longer sees.
The world is dying.
Greed ravages the land.
It steals food from the mouths of the poor.
It slows the beat of the heart.
It narrows the eyes.
The shackled mind neither hopes nor craves freedom.
It is unable to dream.
It is dead.
